Publikace Otevřený přístup A linked-data vocabulary of grey literature document types: Version 1.0(2011) Pejšová, Petra; Mynarz, Jindřich; Simandlová, TerezaThe first version of the vocabulary of the types of grey literature in RDF (Resource Description Framework) is based on an analysis of grey literature typologies and a draft version of vocabulary presented on GL12. The draft version of the vocabulary of the types of grey literature was reviewed by 14-member international working group appointed to this purpose. From January until July 6, 2011 42 comments and suggestions were accepted. Subsequently, they were incorporated by the NTK (National Technical Library) team. Changes mainly redefined some collections, some document types were merged and others excluded. The major changes concerned the following collections: monographs, informative materials, datasets and research plans. By our poster we would like to introduce the first version and discuss the possibility of using it by grey literature community. The vocabulary of the types of grey literature is publicly available on http://code.google.com/p/grey-literature-typology/ . The record includes also a poster, which was a part of presentation.Publikace Otevřený přístup A Lot of Music for a Mere Pittance(2016-09-16) Horová, Iva; Šír, FilipPříspěvek přibližuje situaci v oblasti zvukových dokumentů na národní úrovni. Poukazuje na nedostatek podpory ze strany státu, chybějící národní plán ochrany zvukových nosičů a z toho plynopucí problémy. Navzdory tomu se na tomto poli podařila řada úspěšných kroků, které jsou zde blíže popsány.Publikace Otevřený přístup Academic writing in the broader context of early career researcher development(2021) Chodounská, Alena; Skenderija, Sasha; Krueger, StephanieMany of us working in the area of academic writing in Central European universities at the early career researcher level find ourselves struggling with the boundary of the term “academic writing.” Like a Russian Matryoshka doll, one finds that skill development often requires introducing students to concepts extending far beyond writing, exposing educational gaps that can be filled by disciplinary mentors who may or may not have time to work with mentees on developing the required competencies. This presentation describes an online tool, STEMskiller, developed by NTK to assist mentors in filling in such gaps, describing how its developers confronted the “boundary problem” as a supplement to introductory writing classes. The presentation provides case studies for STEMskiller’s use by academic writing instructors with stories from our initial experiences with mentors and other users. We discuss plans for the tool’s future development, including our desire to serve the global academic community by means of collaborative peer review and resource curation as well as our goal of working together at the cross-institutional, cross-national level in order to improve overall levels of education, particularly for mentors and students at institutions who, for whatever reason, cannot easily create new academic service units flexible enough to meet international disciplinary requirements.Publikace Otevřený přístup Administration of Repairs in Scopus Affiliation Profiles of Czech Universities(2013-12-11) Szarzec, JakubPublikace Otevřený přístup Aktuální informace z oblasti zvukových dokumentů aneb jak na to(2019-10-31) Horová, Iva; Malinová, IvaPrezentace přináší základní informace o oblasti historie zvukových dokumentů, o aktuální situaci z hlediska zpracovávání a péče o ně v ČR. Publikace Otevřený přístup An Analysis of Current Grey Literature Document Typology(2010) Pejšová, Petra; Vaska, MarcusThis analysis is based on the classification of the international systems GreyNet, (the Grey Literature Network Service), OpenSIGLE, (the System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe), and the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR), as well as focusing on national schemata in the Czech Republic, namely ASEP (Register of Publication Activity of the AS CR), NRGL (National Repository of Grey Literature), and RIV (Information Register of R & D Results). During the analysis of the lists of document types, we have discovered that these typologies contain, besides “real” document types (reports, theses, etc.) other aspects, such as events (arrangement, organization), types of events (conferences, speeches), producers (universities, institutes), processes (translations, output), content (political documents, legal texts), location (domestic, foreign), and format (e-texts, numeric data). However, this approach is not systematic. Therefore, we have decided to create a classification scheme for document types only, and classify other aspects into various groups in order to define them more precisely. The scheme will be processed in a text version as well as schematically in mind maps.Publikace Otevřený přístup Archívy konsorcií z projektů NTK v režimu Posttermination Access(2011-03-30) Římanová, RadkaPublikace Otevřený přístup Ask Anything Session(2012) Zijlstra, Ton; Bounegru, Liliana; Barr, Caelainn; Levine, Thomas; Lindenberg, FriedrichPublikace Otevřený přístup Assessing awareness of library services: an ethnographic examination of bachelor students at two Czech technology universities(2016) Chodounská, Alena; Krueger, StephanieIn this paper, the authors present interim research results from an ongoing ethnographic examination of eight engineering undergraduate students from two technology universities in Prague, Czech Republic. A multi-layered data gathering strategy was employed, including semi-structured in-person interviews as well as in situ and virtual observations of participants interacting with learning environments. This data enabled the authors to examine whether or not students are aware of library services. “Library services” are here broadly defined to include not only traditional support services but also new, emerging areas of activity which can be categorized under the broader concept of undergraduate student support. Findings indicate very poor awareness of library offerings although participants were aware of the library as a study space. The authors additionally touch briefly upon the concept of “backward design” for service development, in which research data is gathered and considered prior to service design and launch.Publikace Otevřený přístup Audit DRAMBORA for Trustworthy Repositories: A Study Dealing with the Digital Repository of Grey Literature(2011) Pejšová, Petra; Vaska, MarcusThis paper will present DRAMBORA (Digital Repository Audit Method Based on Risk Assessment), a methodology and tool for auditing a trustworthy digital repository of grey literature. DRAMBORA is an online instrument which helps organizations develop documentation and identify the risks of a digital repository. DRAMBORA is accessible from http://www.repositoryaudit.eu. The paper will also summarize prevailing advantages and disadvantages of DRAMBORA. The second part of this paper will describe the audit of the National Repository of Grey Literature (NRGL) as a trustworthy digital repository using DRAMBORA as part of creating a digital repository of grey literature in the National Technical Library (NTK). The most important outcome of the audit was represented by the identified risks connected to the repository and potentially endangering its operation, quality, image, and other features. The main principle of the DRAMBORA audit and, at the same time, its main contribution, is its iteration (i.e. its repetition after a certain time period in new conditions when the original risks are reassessed; the measurements adopted for solution are assessed and new risks are identified).Publikace Otevřený přístup Audit důvěryhodnosti digitálního repozitáře NUŠL(2011) Pejšová, PetraPublikace Otevřený přístup Before and Beyond Embedding: A Reference Fable from the National Library of Technology in Prague(2017-05-22) Skenderija, Sasha; Stehlík, Martin; Houdek, TomášRewind the tape telling the story of reference services at the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague to 2009: a closed stacks specialized library with a long, complicated institutional history re-opens its arms to the public with a new “open stacks spirit” in an innovative building—an architectural jewel. Students (80% of all visitors) and the public embrace an inspiring space in the heart of a STEM campus and it rapidly fills with activities ranging from conferences to art exhibitions to concerts. But lost in this mélange are modern academic reference and information services. Despite being governed and financed directly by the Czech Ministry of Education, the narrative of value to academic stakeholders is shyly whispered. “We’re the flagship of Czech librarianship,” we gloat. Nothing, and almost no one, shouts: “We can help you succeed in your academic journey.” Fast-forward to 2017. In our paper, we will relate how we are weaving together the first fabrics of academic value narratives. Our story has not been linear; threads related to internal strategic planning, creation of intranets and reusable staff educational modules entwine with other threads (user-based online development, social media statements, “backward designed” instructional efforts) which we discuss using notable examples. Common to all narratives are themes of academic success, rigor, and individual engagement; internally in relation to ongoing staff development and externally, with intimate involvement (even bowling!) with colleagues and students. While our campus may not yet be fully ready for such approaches, we are now strongly declaring our value as essential players in the successful education of students.Publikace Otevřený přístup Beyond Academic Support: using a CRM System to Enhance the Value of Academic Services and Improve Internal Training(Národní technická knihovna, 2019-09-04) Chodounská, Alena; Ryzhkov, AlexeyThis case study from National Library of Technology in Prague describes the use of customer relation management (CRM) software by the User Support Team in order to keep a record of provided academic support services provided and—most importantly—to ensure continuous improvement and appropriate analysis of these services. The CRM system helps to identify gaps in student support services, and inspires the development of new services. It is also used to enhance peer-to-peer personal knowledge exchange within the team. Last but not least, the essence and value of our support has been “materialized” in the form of the CRM system and can be easily communicated with our stakeholders.
