Is It Really Him/Her?: Challenges and Solutions in the Unambiguous Identification of Historical Researchers

Abstract

The presentation describes the procedure in relation to the identifiers Wikidata ID and the Intergrated Authority File (GND) used in the GEPRIS Historisch database. The procedure is illustrated using specific examples. The presentation concludes with a look at Historic Newspaper Portals, where GEPRIS Historisch makes it possible to research whether and in what form DFG applicants were covered in the daily press of the time.
