Uniform Resource Name (URN) is a standard-based persistent identifier (PID) that NLF has been using since the late 1990s, and now is one of thirteen national libraries across Europe that uses these PIDs.Publikace Otevřený přístup 70 stěžejních časopisů na konci drátu : IOPscience Extra od Institute of Physics(2015) Kadleček, JiříPublikace Otevřený přístup A linked-data vocabulary of grey literature document types: Version 1.0(2011) Pejšová, Petra; Mynarz, Jindřich; Simandlová, TerezaThe first version of the vocabulary of the types of grey literature in RDF (Resource Description Framework) is based on an analysis of grey literature typologies and a draft version of vocabulary presented on GL12. The draft version of the vocabulary of the types of grey literature was reviewed by 14-member international working group appointed to this purpose. From January until July 6, 2011 42 comments and suggestions were accepted. Subsequently, they were incorporated by the NTK (National Technical Library) team. Changes mainly redefined some collections, some document types were merged and others excluded. The major changes concerned the following collections: monographs, informative materials, datasets and research plans. By our poster we would like to introduce the first version and discuss the possibility of using it by grey literature community. The vocabulary of the types of grey literature is publicly available on http://code.google.com/p/grey-literature-typology/ . The record includes also a poster, which was a part of presentation.Publikace Otevřený přístup A Machine for Automatic Subject Indexing Using ToC(2018) Pokorný, JanThe technology developed in the National Library of Technology can extract a document’s table of content (TOC), generate relevant keywords, and suggest terms for various classification schemas (UDC, DDC, LCC, Conspectus). It can fully or substantially automate the process of generating subject access, unite it across libraries, and significantly increase accuracy and relevancy compared to subject assignments by non-specialist catalogers. Such increased quality in subject access terms is often seen in the superior subject facets generated by discovery systems and library OPAC advanced search forms.Publikace Otevřený přístup A National System for Purchasing eResources: How Will We Form CzechElib? : Roundtable Discusion(2013) Bartošek, MiroslavPublikace Omezený přístup The Academic Library as an Agent for Academic Literacy Innovation(National Library of Technology, 2024) Urban, AdamThis presentation outlines the importance of academic literacy and describes how academic libraries can play a significant role in its development using the Czech National Library of Technology (NTK) as an example. Given the rapid changes in academia and the demands on academic libraries, including in the Czech Republic, many academic libraries have had to adapt and expand their service offerings. The concept of academic literacy, which provides an umbrella term for the new kinds of assistance that libraries can provide, covers a wide range of skills needed and desired such an evolving academic environment. An expanded focus on academic literacy—moving beyond information literacy— provides students and early career researchers with skills that will better equip them for a career in academia and beyond. Through study materials, webinars, and face-to-face consultations, NTK is actively working on developing transferable skills and competencies in the academic realm. In my presentation, I describe NTK’s initiatives and the changes made in library services. It includes a description of longitudinal quantitative data collection regarding academic literacy efforts over the last 5 years (2018-2023), including student feedback and gaps we still need to address; and a qualitative analysis of the data regarding the range and types of services provided. Academic libraries in evolving environments who are considering providing similar literacy support will be able to use our efforts as an example in designing their own, locally tailored services.Publikace Otevřený přístup Academic writing in the broader context of early career researcher development(2021) Chodounská, Alena; Skenderija, Sasha; Krueger, StephanieMany of us working in the area of academic writing in Central European universities at the early career researcher level find ourselves struggling with the boundary of the term “academic writing.” Like a Russian Matryoshka doll, one finds that skill development often requires introducing students to concepts extending far beyond writing, exposing educational gaps that can be filled by disciplinary mentors who may or may not have time to work with mentees on developing the required competencies. This presentation describes an online tool, STEMskiller, developed by NTK to assist mentors in filling in such gaps, describing how its developers confronted the “boundary problem” as a supplement to introductory writing classes. The presentation provides case studies for STEMskiller’s use by academic writing instructors with stories from our initial experiences with mentors and other users. We discuss plans for the tool’s future development, including our desire to serve the global academic community by means of collaborative peer review and resource curation as well as our goal of working together at the cross-institutional, cross-national level in order to improve overall levels of education, particularly for mentors and students at institutions who, for whatever reason, cannot easily create new academic service units flexible enough to meet international disciplinary requirements.Publikace Omezený přístup Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment and operation of SCOAP3(2014) Národní technická knihovna, National Library of Technology; CERNPublikace Otevřený přístup Addressing Equity and Access to PID Infrastructure(National Library of Technology, 2024) Mejias, GabrielaThis session will discuss the core objectives, strategies, and impact of this initiative, shedding light on its significance to allow underrepresented communities to benefit from PID infrastructure. We will discuss progress to date and challenges across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East and will have speakers dial in from the regions to share their work. In this interactive session, we aim to inspire engagement and collaboration among PID stakeholders towards the shared goal of advancing equity and access in the research landscape.Publikace Omezený přístup Advanced information services(2014) Krueger, StephaniePublikace Otevřený přístup Advancing FAIR Data Practices through Integrating Scientific Measuring Instruments PIDs for CRIS(National Library of Technology, 2024) Wermelinger, Julia; Grasso Toro, FedericoIn research data management, the integration of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) plays a pivotal role in achieving Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data. This presentation explores the synergy of three components - OpenIRIS, Code Versioning by Git, and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for research results. By establish a comprehensive framework for enhancing Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) by FAIR data practices. The non-profit platform Openiris.io as a beacon for the research community: facilitating the discovery, sharing, and management of resources. Through its central portal and customed institutional portals, OpenIRIS incorporates features developed with direct researchers involvement, making it a repository of best practices for scientific resource management, in particular measuring instruments.
